Short Bios of Key Personnel

Guillermo Bordarampé: Founder, Director and President of "INCA", plays guitar, mandolin, and bass. Mr. Bordarampé was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. With his previous group, Arco Iris, he toured extensively in Southamerica. During the 8 years with Arco Iris, Mr. Bordarampé recorded 12 albums and 12 singles in Argentina. Since 1981 he has toured the western states with "INCA", the Peruvian Ensemble, providing performances, workshops, master classes and residencies. With INCA, Mr. Bordarampé has recorded three albums. Mr. Bordarampé's formal musical training was done in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He then did musical research on his own travelling extensively in Argentina, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. In 1995, he founded "Pachamama Music", an independent record label and recording studio, with an emphasis on world music. In 1997, Mr. Bordarampé released his first solo album "Ultimo Mate", also released on SONY Discos.

Victor Vento: Lead guitarist, he was born in Lima, Peru. Mr. Vento has recorded with various renown Peruvian artists and toured Peru and Southamerica with these various artists. Mr. Vento has been with "INCA" since 1985, touring the western states. With INCA, Mr. Vento has recorded two albums. Mr. Vento also provides workshops on music and dance from Peru. Mr. Vento's formal musical training was done in Peru.

Tito Ugarte: Percussionist and lead singer, he was born in Lima, Peru. He performed and toured Peru and Southamerica with the group "Hermanos Ugarte", Estampas Peruanas and Pinceladas Peruanas. Mr. Ugarte is one of the founding members of "INCA", the Peruvian Ensemble. Mr. Ugarte's formal musical training was done in Lima, Peru. Mr. Ugarte participated in the three albums released by INCA.

Fernando Popayan: Woodwinds and charango. Mr. Popayan was born in Lima, Peru. Mr. Popayan has also toured and performed with various Peruvian and Bolivian artists, such as Ernesto Cavour, Sur and Yahuar Inca. Here in the U.S.A. he has perfomed with Yatiri and Ms. Elizabeth Waldo. Mr. Popayan has been with "INCA" since 1986. Mr. Popayan's musical training was done mainly in Peru, but he continues taking music lessons on a variety of styles in Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Popayan recorded three albums with INCA.

Cecilia Bohorquez: Cecilia was born in Cajamarca, Peru. Cecilia sings Criollo and Andean songs in Spanish and Quechua. She also plays Charango and Guitar. Cecilia studied in Lima, Peru and took private voice studies with Arthur Samuel Joseph, in Encino, CA. She has obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music, California State University Northridge, and took private voice studies with Professor Curt Allen, Northridge, CA. She has recorded several albums and given numerous concerts as a solo artist and with various projects in the U.S. since 1983.

Ulises Pineda: Ulises was born in South America, in Valparaiso, Chile. Ulises plays Quena, Tarka, Zampoña, and Bastos. Ulises has a successful touring and musical career in Europe with various South American bands such as Los Jairas and Aranzalla from Bolivia, as well as the acclaimed Ballet Nacional de Paraguay. Back in the USA he founded his own group Alpaka and he performs and tours regularly with INCA, the Peruvian Ensemble since 1992. After recording and touring with INCA for several years Ulises recorded his own unique brand of music in his first solo album Araucana (Nite Rites).

Antonio Flores: Antonio was born in El Salvador. He plays Zampoña, Bastos, and Toyos. Antonio has been performing with INCA since 1995. He released his first album "Andes Trance" in 1999 and leads his own band under the same name with his own brand of world music based on South American patterns and instruments.
